George Washington Noyes

George Washington Noyes was born in Brattleboro, Vermont in 1822.  He was the youngest sibling of John Humphrey Noyes and one of his earliest converts to Perfectionism.  He married Helen Campbell in 1847 prior to becoming a member of the Community.  They had one child who died before his first birthday,  shortly after they joined the Community.  He fathered three children by three different women in the community, including a son, George Wallingford Noyes, with his niece, Tirzah Miller.

He was considered the leader of the O.C. satellite community in Wallingford, Connecticut, and served as editor of the Circular for many years.  He taught Latin to Community youth, traveled abroad and recorded his experiences in writing and sketches.

He died of malaria in Wallingford at the age of 47 and is buried in the Community Cemetery.
